About Us
College Beach Navigator is the culmination of a multi-year research and development process aimed at improving the experiences of prospects and their families in college beach volleyball recruiting. The Navigator is a service of our highly successful college recruiting consulting company – Beach Prospects. We designed the Navigator to empower families to be more effective and more confident participants in the recruiting process. We are accomplishing that by providing unprecedented access to college beach programs through research and analytics not available anywhere else.
It is hard to ignore the overwhelming informational imbalance that exists between coaches and prospects in college recruiting. For years, coaches have enjoyed far greater access to information on prospects than prospects have ever had on coaches and their teams. Families do not have nearly the information they need to facilitate informed questions and choices throughout the college recruiting process. Instead, they often are left to make ad hoc decisions based on anecdotes rather than information. On the most important decision of their young lives, prospects are guessing, under-informed and desperately in need of reliable information.
We want to help families make informed choices – not just on the commitment decision, but earlier when choosing which schools to contact and deciding on which ones to visit. To help prospects make those informed decisions we are committed to providing the information they need yet nearly never have. The goal is to empower prospects to confidently make choices, ask questions and compare alternatives.
To accomplish that, we are changing the process. Rather than building prospect profiles and then marketing them to coaches – an activity that does nothing to educate families – we are doing the opposite. We are designing profiles on college programs and making them available to prospects. Educating families on schools – rather than schools on players – empowers prospects to make informed choices and directly addresses the informational imbalance between coaches and recruits that lies at the unstable core of the current college recruiting process.
Years in college coaching have helped us identify the factors that matter most to families searching for their best program fit. We combined that experience with additional years of research to mine thousands of data points on performance trends, roster insights, scheduling and travel habits, graduation rates, recruiting practices, player retention rates, budgets and more, of every four year college beach volleyball program in the country. We then designed a system where that information can easily be browsed, searched, filtered and sorted to help families find the best fit college and beach program for their preferred experience. Families can use our platform to develop lists of potential schools, formulate questions to coaches, and explore opportunities that may previously have gone undiscovered.
Families wanting the additional guidance gained from a personal consultant can still retain us through Beach Prospects to personally guide them through the recruiting process. As consultants we are able to leverage our college coaching experience to ensure you are targeting schools for the right athletic fit too.
